Hotel Universo - Guadalajara

The staff - friendly and kind.

We had a bad experience with an extortion call made in another room of the same hotel in which they commented that a car entered the parking lot with weapons and drugs to get away from the police and that they were going to go to the rooms to check. This led us to ask for a change of hotel at the reception of the hotel universo, which at first one of the receptionists refused saying that they would only give us a refund notified by the hotel owner. Later and after minutes of null dialogue by the receptionist, they made the change a few blocks away to another hotel (Hotel San Francisco) that owns the same hotel (Universe). It is a pity that they do not take into account the safety of the guests and that they only rely on the fact that "the hotel cameras" are the only safety measure available. Anyway, apart from the bad treatment by the hotel reception everything is fine.

I loved the fresh croissants and organic juices at breakfast! The central location made it easy to explore Guadalajara. Unfortunately, the bathroom had a musty smell 😕

The location stands out, a mere three blocks from the plaza. Room 132 has a nice balcony.

The cleanliness leaves much to be desired. The bathroom had mold and grime buildup, and the carpets were in need of a good scrub. Some rooms are poorly maintained and exhibit a mildew odor. Questionable artifacts like exposed wires. Several guests reported insect sightings, especially for families.

The room was quite large, but cleanliness was a major issue. I found red liquid on the floor and little bugs crawling around. The bathtub was filthy and had lots of grime. I checked for bedbugs under the sheets and found other bugs instead. It was hard to sleep due to thin walls and noisy guests. Just not a great experience overall.

The location of the hotel is wonderful. The continental breakfast is good. The beds are clean. It's cheap.

In some of the rooms the carpets and sofa's are filthy. The best rooms are the ones with tiles on the floor, which seem to be the corner rooms.

The staff are AMAZINGly nice, the breakfast is great. They offer comfy, outstanding rooms with double king beds and extra space, as for instance. The rate is usd 607, satisfied. It offers good services.

The proximity to the Cathedral and downtown area made exploring very easy.

The bathroom cleanliness left much to be desired, with mold in the shower.

I appreciated the hotel's convenient location near the plaza. The staff were cute and ensured I felt safe , very reassuring.

The hotel had a lovely, cute ambiance, with charming decor that seemed like stepping into a warm hug. It was also conveniently located just a few blocks from the main plaza.
